Bio Holly (Deutsch/English)

Hi! Mein Name ist Holly und ich bin in Providence, Rhode Island, USA geboren mit dem Mädchenname Morrison, ja der starke Schottische Clan! Ich bin das mittel-Kind von drei Madchen und mit viele Sport aufgewachsen. In der Schule und an der Uni habe ich verschiedene Sportarten ausgeübt, z.B. Fußball, Softball, Turnen, Basketball, Feldhockey, Lacrosse und Crosslauf. Bei uns zu Hause war auch Sport oft aufs TV...Baseball, Basketball, und natürlich American Football!

Ich habe ein Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Machinenbau) des Worcester Polytechnic Institute mit Schwerpunkt in Aerospace Engineering. Anschließend habe ich bei The University of Rhode Island ein Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering in Thermal Sciences (Wärme- und Strömungswissenschaft) abgeschlossen.

Mehrere Jahre arbeitete ich in der Forschung und Entwicklung für Anwendung in der Wehrtechnik. Spezialisiert für Antennen- und Funkstörungsysteme für Kampfflugzeuge (F14s, F15s) und später akustische Dämpfung für U-Boote mit Sicherheitsstufe Geheim von der US Regierung.

Wahrend ich bei der College of William & Mary ein Master’s in Business Administration gemacht habe, habe ich mein zukünftige Mann kennengelernt. Er ist Berliner, und innerhalb ein Jahr nach unsere erste Begegnung hat er mich geheiratet und nach Deutschland geschleppt! Ich arbeite jetzt als technische Lektorin (auf Englisch) und wir haben vier Kinder (7, 10, 12, 14). Letztendlich wenn ich fertig bin mit Arbeit, Sport, Kochen, Einkauf, Saubermachen und Taxi-Service, dann schreibe ich gern und poste auf mein Blog...check it out!

                                                                                            

Hi! My name is Holly and I was born in Providence, RI, USA with the maiden name Morrison...yes, the fierce Scottish clan! I am the middle child of three girls and grew up with sports all around me. I was active in a lot of team sports in local leagues and in school including soccer, softball, gymnastics, basketball, field hockey and cross-country running. Of course, baseball, basketball and football were always on TV in our home too.

I went to Worcester Polytechnic Institute where I got a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in aerospace engineering; there I played field hockey and lacrosse. Upon graduation I went straight to The University of Rhode Island where I finished a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering concentrating in the thermal sciences.

I worked for several years in research and development of systems for military applications including antenna and radar jamming systems for tactical fighter aircraft (F14s, F15s) and then acoustic damping of submarines for which I held a government secret clearance.

While getting a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) in the evening program at The College of William & Mary (while working days full time), I met my future husband…who married me less than a year later and swept me off to Germany!!

Now we have four children who keep us from having much free time….but they make our lives wonderful and provide many adventurous days (and nights)!

I am self-employed as a technical editor and translator. And if I have any free time left after work, training, cooking, cleaning, shopping, and being taxi-driver to the brood, then I like to spend it writing and posting to my Blog…check it out!
